Wobble

The definition of wobble is to have fault, shake dance, weak, falter. When I think  I think of a new baby begging to walk like my cousin Sara she took her first steps last week and wobbles while standing or "walking" those three steps before falling.

Humans have wobble moments their entire life from learning to walk, all the way until they are old and frail and can no longer walk. In English classes I often wobble rather it be reading or writing, and especially grammar I wobble more than Sara. I still question why do we have to write all these papers when after collage will never see another paper again? Or why is it so hard for me to learn grammar, reading, and writing and it comes so easy to others?
Ever since I was little and learned to read and write I have noticed that the things in my mind are backwards when I read the time in a digital clock instead of 9:55 I read 5:59 my q's are g's and my b's, d's and p's are never written like that on paper. When I read a passage from a book it takes me twice as long as anybody I know because I have to read each sentence twice sometime three times to make sure I have read everything correctly.

The biggest problem I had with English this year was writing the few papers we had uneasy about how she grades on spelling and grammar. But I am used to paper I have been writing them since the fourth grade. The most wobbly part of this year is the blog posts we did every week. At first I thought this was going to be a dumb idea, one more thing that proves that I'm no good in English and not the whole world can see it. I thought why do we have to do this blogs are for people who want to say something and as far as I was concerned I was contempt with not saying anything. but after  a few posts I started to enjoy it, I even think it have improved my creative mind and I can go into grader detail about the things I write. Blogging was most definitely the most difficult part of this year.

Narrative

I knew from the beggining that I wanted to write about my grandma. She is so special to me and has been the biggest inpact in my litaracy life. She writes poems all the time and has so manybooks they should build a libaray just for her. The first draft I wrote was a bunch of collabrative storys of my childhood at my grandmas but when she told us she wanted a revised paper with a whole new concept I chose to rewrite the paper by choosing one big story and writing about little memories in that one story. When I got comments back that Mrs. Manship wanted one big story not a bunch of little storys I chose the most recent event in my family my grandma's poems and how she has recently published these poems in a book.

Ethnography Project: Public Writing

My group, consisting of Jeremy (Fitz), and Hayleigh we were assigned to compose a project about public writing. We met in the cafe in the library and thought of ideas we could base our project on the related to our topic. We came up with three main topics, signage, white boards, and graffiti.

Jeremy was in charge of white boards and Hayleigh did her portion on graffiti.  I chose signage. As I walked around campus I saw signs that were normal telling students about clubs, fraternity, party's, and classes. Then there were a few that really stood out to me and they were not your ordinary signs. They were however signage, it was a form a written communication informing its general audience (uncc students). One were t-shirts informing studentts about domestic violence and I didnt really think anything of it, after I thought about it for a while I realized that people wear shirts all the time with painted stuff on it. Then I saw the Pumpkins.

The pumpkins were informing the students about the upcoming election. I thought this is really neat and documented it to talk it over with my group. After I had confirmed that I would base signage on this pumpkin I then had to make and interesting media based topic about this pumpkin and I thought "Hey an interview with these pumpkins would be new and different".  The first part of this process is writing the script, then the hard part came, convincing my sister to help me. I had the idea of two pumpkins, Jacklyn a sophisticated pumpkin and Dwayne and I wanted him to be like Larry off of the Vegi Tales. Well and hour and a half after starting the interview with my sister screaming at me to have a supper sparkly day, my brother having a dramatic breakdown, and my mother talking in the background we finally finished the interview which was barley two minutes long.

The process of this project was difficult in some aspects but i thought it to be much more fun than writing a paper and found that there are different ways to get your word out there. And my group helped me with my ideas and collaborate all the aspects of this project into one. Overall i thought it to be a fun, different, English assignment.
